Hi guys welcome to worldtech360. In this tutorial or article I
am going to show you how to create an
installation file(setup file) for the .EXE file which you have created using an
inbuilt option in windows 7 named ‘iexpress’.
So let’s see how to do this.
Note:
You can also create an installation file for .bat file files
or .VBS files or any other files which are executable.
Steps:
1. Choose an .EXE file or any other file for which you want
to create a setup file or installation file. In this I am going to use .VBS
file
2. Open Run and type “iexpress”
or “iexpress.exe” and hit enter.
3. After hitting enter, iexpress wizard window will popup. On the screen you
will see two options i.e. “create new self-extracting
directive file” and the other is “open
existing self-extracting directive file”. I recommend you to choose the
first option as you are going to create a self-extracting file and click next.
4. In the next window select “Extract files only”. Choose this option if you want to extract the
files only but you don’t want to run the file.
5. Now choose the title for your package. This name will
displayed at the top bar i.e. blue bar and click on next.
6. If you want the user to be prompted by asking whether to
install the file or not, choose “Prompt
user with”. If you don’t want the user to get prompted then choose the first
option and click on next.
7. If you have a license agreement in the form of .txt then
choose the “Display a license” and
browse to the file and click next and if you don’t want any license agreement to
be displayed, then choose “Do not
display a License” and click on next.
8. Now choose the .EXE file or any other files. To add the
files click on “ADD” and then click on next.
9. Now choose “Default” option from the window and click on next.
10. After installation if you want a message to be displayed
saying “Thanks for installing and have a nice day”, then choose “Display message” option and click on
next.
11. After that choose the path where you want your setup
file to be saved on your computer and click on next.
12. If you want to save the Self-extracting directive then
choose the first option and click on next. If you don’t want the
Self-extracting directive file to be saved, then choose “Don’t save” ad click
on next.
13. After that click on next to create the package and you
will see the screen as shown below after creating the package.
14. You will see two files in the folder which you have selected i.e. one is installation file and the
other is the Self-extracting file(If you have selected this one in step 12).
