How to Create Password protected folder using winrar.

Hi friends in this tutorial i am gonna show you how to make password protected folder using rar.In one of my recent post i discussed with you about How to lock a folder by using notepad now let us try locking the folder using winrar.

Winrar is one of the best compression utilities but very few know how to use it to protect the folder. Winrar allows us to encrypt folders with 128 bit key.
The main advantage of this tutorial is that the confidential data that is residing on our desk (PC) could be protected against the hackers or from your friends. In order to do this follow my instructions.

Steps:

1. To do this you need winrar. You can download it from here (CLICK HERE).

2. After installing the winrar, select the folder for which you want to keep passwords.

3. Right click on the folder and click on "Add to archive" as shown.

4. Now a window will pop up. Browse to "Advanced tab" in it.

5. Click on "Set password" as shown.

Go to Advanced tab and click on Set password.

6. Now check the "show password" box to check whether you have typed the password correctly or not and press ok.

To know the password which you have typed click on show password.

7. Now you will see a RAR file on your desktop. Whenever you try to open the files in the folder it will prompt you to enter the password as shown.

Open the created RAR file and you will see that it is password protected.
